Hello Families and Friends of Bell Hill!
My name is Amanda Ortmayer, and I will be the primary organizer of this year’s Día de los Muertos celebration at Bell Hill, taking place Thursday, October 29th after school.
If you are interested in helping make food, we will reimburse supplies.
I am looking for help to make this wonderful event happen! If you have any questions about what a specific volunteer job involves, please feel free to contact me directly.

FOOD MANAGEMENT / COORDINACIÓN DE ALIMENTOS
We usually receive food from local vendors and volunteers. Food is a very important part of this event, so I am hoping to find someone who can take the lead on managing this area, especially on the day of the event.
I will provide all of the relevant information. I would ask this person to follow up with the people providing food and help develop a good plan for serving everything. I would also love someone who can be there throughout the event to help teach volunteers how to serve and solve little problems as they arise — for example, “we’re out of napkins at this table!” or “we need more water at this station!”
Generalmente recibimos comida de vendedores locales y voluntarios. La comida es una parte muy importante de nuestra celebración, así que me encantaría encontrar a alguien que pueda encargarse de coordinar esta área, especialmente el día del evento.
Yo proporcionaré toda la información necesaria. FACEPAINTING MANAGMENT
This would be a person who would help the day of the event. They would be in charge of checking in the volunteers and helping the line move quickly.

For the last several years, we have had wonderful volunteers make Día de los Muertos cookies to sell at the event.
I know some of you are amazing bakers, and I would love to hand this job over to someone who is better at it than me!

Home Made Horchata and Jamaica
Both of these beverages are very special and a huge hit at our event. We always sell out. If you have any experience or would like to learn please help us by making large batches (3 to 4 large containers)

ALTAR / OFRENDA
I am looking for a partner who can work with me to help design, construct, and set up our Día de los Muertos community altar/ofrenda.
Estoy buscando a alguien que quiera trabajar conmigo para ayudar a diseñar, construir y montar nuestro altar/ofrenda comunitaria de Día de los Muertos.
ALEBRIJE PARADE / DESFILE DE ALEBRIJES
We need someone to help organize the costumes and help the children get dressed and ready on the day of the event for our Alebrije Parade.
Necesitamos a alguien que pueda ayudarnos a organizar los disfraces y ayudar a los niños a vestirse y prepararse el día del evento para nuestro Desfile de Alebrijes.
DANCE SUPPORT FOR CHOREOGRAPHER / APOYO PARA NUESTRA COREÓGRAFA
We have a choreographer who will be leading an after-school program to teach the children traditional dances that they will perform on the day of our Día de los Muertos celebration. She needs some extra help keeping the children focused, organized, and ready during rehearsals. If you enjoy working with kids and helping behind the scenes, this would be a wonderful way to volunteer!
Contamos con una coreógrafa que estará trabajando con los niños en un programa después de clases para enseñarles bailes tradicionales que presentarán durante nuestra celebración de Día de los Muertos. Ella necesita un poco de ayuda adicional para mantener a los niños enfocados, organizados y listos durante los ensayos. Si les gusta trabajar con niños y ayudar detrás de escena, ¡esta sería una excelente manera de participar como voluntarios!
